Eduard Khald (Asoyan)
Born in 1952 in Yerevan, Armenia.
Married, with two children. Currently resides in the United States.
Member of the Union of Cinematographers of Armenia and the Pan-Armenian Writers’ Union.
Studied at the Vera Mukhina Higher School of Art and Design in Saint Petersburg. Graduated from the Directing Department of the Yerevan Institute of Theatre and Fine Arts. Also studied at the Moscow Academy of Non-Traditional Sciences, specializing in parapsychology and esotericism.
For many years worked as a film director at the Mosfilm and Armenfilm studios. Founded and headed the production centers ArmInterFilm (Yerevan) and KhaldStar (Moscow).
Has been publishing since 1987 (articles, short stories, and novellas in Armenian-Russian periodicals).
In 1988, the play “A Miracle for the Hero” was staged at the Yerevan Chamber Theatre.
In 1990, the short story collection “The Death of an Outsider” was published by Nairi Publishing House.
In 2025, the book “The Devourer of Dreams” was published in Los Angeles.
Author of screenplays for feature films produced in different years, including “Nightmare” (Labyrinth), “Choice”, “The Unwritten Law”, “The Path”, and “Karabakh Rhapsody (My Cross)”.
In 1995, commissioned by the Russian-American Forum for American guest performances, he staged Jean Cocteau’s play “The Human Voice” in Moscow.
In 1996, his play “The Repetiteur” was staged in Moscow at the same center.
His works have been published in the Armenian-Jewish literary journal “Noy” and in the magazine “LitArmenia”.
Author of the radio program series “New Gavit” (The Armenian Church, 1915–1952), broadcast on the Holy Etchmiadzin “VEM” radio station.
In 2004, his radio play “The Birth of Children” was produced by Armenian Public Radio. The short-story collection “The Land of Albinos” is currently in preparation for publication.
